Megazyme recently launched a range of new high purity oligosaccharides for use in research, biochemical enzyme assays and analytical applications. Most of these new oligosaccharides are exclusive to Megazyme. These products are well suited for the advancement of research in the fields of bacterial, fungal, plant and animal polysaccharides.
Sophorooligosaccharides / 1,2-β-D-Glucooligosaccharides
Sophorooligosaccharides (DP2-6) are derived from 1,2-β-glucan - a rare bacterial polysaccharide and contain only Glc-β-1,2-Glc linkages. The oligosaccharides > DP2 are exclusive to Megazyme.

Laminarioligosaccharides / 1,3-β-D-Glucooligosaccharides
In addition to the existing laminarioligosaccahride range (DP2-6), Megazyme now offers the corresponding DP7-9 oligosaccharides.

Oligogalacturonides
Oligogalacturonides (DP2-4) are derived from polygalacturonic acid - a pectin component - and contain only GalA-α-1,4-GalA linkages. These oligosaccharides are suitable for research of pectin-degrading enzymes.

O-GALA3 | Trigalacturonic acid |
O-GALA4 | Tetragalacturonic acid |
Nigerooligosaccharides / 1,3-α-D-Glucooligosaccharides
Nigerooligosaccharides (DP2-6) are derived from mutan (1,3-α-glucan) – a bacterial polysaccharide that is involved in tooth decay. These oligosaccharides contain only Glc-1,3-α-Glc linkages, most are exclusive to Megazyme.

Chito/Chitosanoligosaccharides
Chitosan oligosaccharides (DP2-5) are derived from fully deacetylated chitosan and contain only GlcNH2-β-1,4-GlcNH2 linkages. In addition, both mono-N-acetylated isomers of chitosanbiose have been synthesised. These oligosaccharides are suitable for research of chitin, chito-oligosaccharides and chitin-degrading enzymes.

Galactooligosaccharides (GOS)
Galactooligosaccharides are produced during the β-galactosidase mediated hydrolysis of lactose during the manufacture of lactose-free and low-lactose products. They are a well-known prebiotic that are often added to nutritional products, most notably infant formula.
