There was great excitement this week as some of the Megazyme staff competed against each other in a Charity Bake Off to raise money for a local charity, Wicklow Hospice Foundation.
The competitors donned their aprons over the weekend creating their very own delicious culinary masterpieces! Their efforts most definitely paid off, which left our judges in a sticky situation as they found it very hard to choose which of the baked treats should take home the prize.
Once the judges had finished sampling the entries (some more than once), the rest of the tasty treats were sold with much delight to the rest of the staff.
The worthy winners were as follows:
1st Place – Shirley Delaney for her Lemon Meringue Cupcakes
2nd Place – Ruth Ivory for her Lemon Cake
3rd Place was a tie between Jackie Walsh and Iain Power for their Chocolate Chip Cookies and Lemon Drizzle Cake
Overseeing the competition was the event organiser, Ruth Canavan, who pulled the whole thing together and managed to ensure the identities of the judges remained a secret, so that there could be no fraternising or bribing in the run up to the event!
All in all, it was a fun-filled morning which helped raise some real dough for the Wicklow Hospice Foundation. The final tally came out to a whopping €1,265.
Well done to everyone involved!
